Health and medical care

This section contains information on a wide range of medical and health topics. A lot of this information is provided by the Hertfordshire Public Health Intelligence Unit which uses statistical and epidemiological expertise to collate, analyse and interpret data for the two PCTs within Hertfordshire. It identifies gaps in the knowledge base and works with others to improve data quality. The PHI unit provides a link between county-based Informatics services and the Public Health Network. Public health information is available by selecting the links to the appropriate subject areas (at the bottom of the screen) or on their website which is available by selecting the link entitled Hertfordshire Public Health Intelligence Unit (on the right hand side of the screen).

Another source of data about Health and medical care is the Eastern Region Public Health Observatory. More information is available by selecting the link at the bottom of the screen.

The Hertfordshire Public Health Intelligence Unit have placed some maps on to the Public Health Network (which can be accessed by members of this network) and these are available by selecting the link entitled Beds and Herts Maps (on the right hand side of the screen).

Information on Population indicators and general health is available on the Hertfordshire Public Health Intelligence website and this is available by selecting the link entitled Population indicators and general health information (on the right hand side of the screen). This includes information on:

  • Report on inequalities in all cause mortality
  • Mortality amenable to health care

  • Ethnicity, country of birth and religion

The East of England Regional Assembly have published a Regional Health Strategy and this is available by selecting the link entitled East of England Regional Health Strategy 2005-2010 (on the right hand side of the screen).
